Hockey winds up in style for 2014 Games

Hockey wound up at the Games this afternoon with some outstanding match-ups in fine conditions.

The last round of the day saw host side Illawarra defeat South West Sydney 2-0 in the boys, while the Hunter girls proved too strong for Western Sydney, 3-0.

Earlier, the boys from Northern Inland stormed home against Western Sydney 5-0, and the HAS boys showed their superiority with a 4-0 result against Southern Sports Academy.

The HAS girls also had a strong finish against Southern 6-2, and Western Sydney squeaked home against NIAS 1-0.

It was a great finish to two days of intense competition, and today’s clearer skies were a welcome relief for players, officials and spectators.

Based on goals for and against, Northern Inland took out the boys competition, while Hunter finished on top in the girls.

Congratulations to all hockey athletes on a successful 2014 ClubsNSW Academy Games.
