Hockey players rise to chilly conditions

There were some big scores in this morning's play at the hockey, as players and spectators braved cold and windy conditions at the start of the Games.

The girls from Northern Inland proved too strong for Southern Sports Academy, taking their game 6-0. That scoreline was repeated later when the Hunter boys took on South West Sydney, with Hunter winning 6-0/

Host Academy Illawarra had a mixed start, with the girls squad going down to Western Sydney 1-3, and the boys defeating Western Sydney 3-0.

Players are generally coping well with the conditions - and spectators will be keen to head to local coffee shops at the end of play! Full scores are on the hockey page.
