Central Coast Academy of Sport The Central Coast Academy of Sport Limited is a local initiative aimed at providing opportunities for athletes, coaches and administrators on the Central Coast of NSW. The Academy became operational in January 2004. The Central Coast is a region with a rapidly growing population base and therefore the need to service the local community specific to sporting endeavours is now well catered for by the CCAS. The Central Coast Academy of Sport is a Not for Profit Organisation that has demonstrated the important mix between business and sport. The benefits of regional sport are well stated, benefits such as physical, social and emotional well being are woven into the fabric of sport. These sporting outcomes are now delivered to approx 150 athletes in programs operated by the CCAS. The Central Coast as a region has developed many fine athletes, the Academy of Sport identifies best practise in the various participant sports and ensures a talented athlete program is developed and supported to meet the stated outcomes of each sport. The CCAS currently caters for the following sports: Athletics, Basketball, Golf, Football, Netball, Rugby Union, Rugby League, Surfing and Surf Life Saving. |

Illawarra Academy of Sport The regional academy format was pioneered in the Illawarra in the mid 1980’s with a vision to provide opportunities and services for talented regional athletes to achieve excellence. This format has now been adapted across the state and overseas. The strength of the Illawarra Academy of Sport in delivering services to athletes has always been its strategic alliances and partnerships with Illawarra business, local government, sporting associations at regional and state level and support of the University of Wollongong and the team of more than fifty volunteers who guide the talented youth of the Illawarra region. |

The North Coast Academy of Sport The North Coast Academy of Sport (NCAS) is part of a network of sport academies assisting talented junior athletes from regional areas of NSW. Established in 1989, NCAS services a coastal region from Laurieton to Tweed Heads and its mission is “to facilitate the identification and development of talented junior athletes from the North Coast of NSW”. In order to achieve this mission, the Academy supports talent development programs in partnership with state and regional sporting organisations, and conducts development activities for athletes and coaches. Over the past 20 years the Academy has assisted many athletes to achieve success at state, national and international level. The Academy is a community-based organisation and works closely with the NSW Department of Sport and Recreation and Southern Cross University. The geographic region covered by the Academy is vast, extending over 500kms from Tweed Heads in the north to Laurieton in the south. The region includes 17 local government authorities and includes major centres such as Tweed Heads, Murwillumbah, Lismore, Ballina, Grafton, Coffs Harbour, Kempsey and Port Macquarie. Due to the size of the region the Academy Board has established five sub-regional committees to assist in promoting its activities. The five sub-regions are as follows: |
| Northern Inland Academy of Sport The Northern Inland Academy of Sport (NIAS) is an incorporated, autonomous, community based oganization established in November 1992 to identify and prepare talented sportspeople in the Northern Inland region to reach their maximum potential, on and off the field! Our Mission To provide opportunities, pathways and access to skill developmentAthlete and Coach support service that will develop individual potential, and support those identified talented sportspeople in making the transition to higher levels of competition and performance. The Academy’s mission is achieved by providing talent development programs, support, and activities to sport in the northern inland region of New South Wales (NSW). This assistance helps young athletes overcome the disadvantages they face compared to young talented athletes who live in the city. These disadvantages include the tyranny of distance, lack of access to quality coaching on a regular basis, inadequate regular high quality competition and limited exposure to state |

Southern NSW Academy The Southern NSW region is proud and passionate about sport. Every day across our region people of all ages from many backgrounds participate in sport and active leisure pursuits. Sport is part of the Australian culture with much of our leisure time taken up playing, watching, coaching or officiating at sporting events.Sport is not just about competing. Many of life’s vital lessons are learnt through sport. The exhilaration of pushing to new heights, the rewards of persistence and practice, the determination required to persevere in the face of adversity, the inherent lessons obtained through learning to play a role in a team, the joy of achievement and the ability to accept success and defeat in equal measure are the types of life skills that are enhanced via an involvement with sport. The Southern Sports Academy aims to identify and develop the sporting and social skills of elite and talented Southern NSW athletes and Coaches so that they have the opportunity to achieve at the highest level in their sport. There is an emphasis on ensuring that athletes that graduate from the Academy do so as well rounded individuals possessing the necessary life skills and sporting skills to excel in the next stage of their endeavours |

South West Sydney Academy of Sport The South West Sydney Academy of Sport (SWSAS) services athletes from potentially the largest growth region in Sydney and is primarily supported bythe Local Government areas of Liverpool, Camden, Campbelltown and Wollondilly . SWSAS celebrates its 10th Anniversary in 2007, having commenced operation in 1997 by the then Department of Sport and Recreation before becoming independent in October 2002 Currently SWSAS is home to eight junior sports development programs in Hockey, Netball, Softball, Athletics, Rugby League, Rugby Union, Golf and Tennis - with plans well underway to add Coach Education and Disabled Sports towards the end of 2007. SWSAS annually offers close to 200 offseason, educationally focused athlete scholarships as well as boasting a coaching staff of upwards of 50. A founding member of ASi, SWSAS is an active and avid supporter of the Regional Academy Games, sending over 100 athletes annually to compete. |
